The brief here was to increase the size of this original Victorian loft with a new dormer and new purlin walls. To add a shower room and built in wardrobes, all the roof spars needed to be replaced and some purlins removed and replaced, as well as sections of the floor strengthened. As the property was located in a conservation area, the dormer was designed and constructed to be in keeping with the period property. A pitched roof and gable end was chosen for the dormer roof to match the look of the properties in the area.
