Staircase
A loft staircase can be a challenge to fit into the landing space of some properties, but there are many design options we can discuss with you. It will normally require a minimum of 1.9 meters head room at the centre line of the stairs at a gradient of 42 degrees and a minimum width of 600mm, although something wider is preferable. Staircases are commonly constructed from timber in either pine or oak. Other options include glass, aluminium, and steel. Typically a wooden staircase will have 1 - 3 winders included to turn the path of the staircase. Running the new staircase above the existing staircase is a good use of space but alternatively it can run in one of the bedrooms if that is more suitable. In the event of a fire, a staircase must provide adequate means of escape that meets building regulations and provides a 30 minute protected route.
"The end result was beyond our expectations and the space they created for us has become an integral part of our day to day living. The team were very friendly and worked with care and attention, both on the job and in the house"
